Two weeks. 4,320 miles in a plane. 3,251 miles in a car (yes, really!). Unknown amount of miles on foot. Jim turned 30 so we traveled to the west coast and just made it up as we went. It. Was. Awesome. Northern California, up through Oregon, north as far as Seattle and lots of stops in between. We had such wonderful recommendations from friends and tried to hit up as many of those places as possible, while still just wandering and seeing what we found. The views, the food, everything was wonderful. Let me see if I can attempt to sum it up via text and photos… and eventually a video. (:
We saw so much of the pacific ocean, and every single view was stunning. Whether it was on the California coast with blue skies, bright water, and lots of sunshine, or it was Oregon or Seattle with the grey, moody sky and ominous crashing waves, it was all beautiful. Sunrises, sunsets, and lots of time spent scrolling our phones in our hotel room stalking where to go when we should be sleeping. Places we loved, places we could have skipped, but we wouldn’t trade any of it because it all made our trip “ours”.
Redwoods, rocks, and lots of rainy days. Surprise stops on the side of the road that ended up being some of my favorite photos and locations of the entire trip. Jim getting a moment alone on the bridge by Multnomah Falls while I grabbed a photo. Sea lion caves (woo. ‘rolls eyes’). A photo session in Portland with two of the most awesome people ever. Seattle museums and an awkward hibachi dinner. A four-seater plane taking us on an adventure above the Olympic peninsula. Driving around the entire Olympic peninsula for no reason other than to do it and to just stop as we pleased because we had zero plans. Eugene, Oregon for a second time, both being in beautiful sunshine. Lots of donuts, ice cream, and bar food. Jim, being a freaking champion and not losing his mind because I took 50 gazillion portraits of him. The dude deserves an award, really. Ending the trip with friends, good conversation, wines, beers, and great freaking pizza. This trip was just super awesome. All of it. I’m sure I forgot 30 things but you know what, you win some & you lose some. Here’s too many photos because I can’t narrow it down any further. <3 Happy birthday, Jim.
